Woods Shot Down at Quail hollow
In his second tournament back after a long layoff due to personal reasons Tiger Woods, playing in the Charlotte Quail Hollow Championship played poorly and promptly missed the cut today. Woods shot a 79 and finished the tournament at 9+ after shooting a 74 the day before in the opening round. Woods playing like the "bizarro-Tiger" missed greens, couldn't putt and missed fairways by miles. The uncharacteristic tenacity never showed up to Charlotte with Woods and once he knew he would not be able to catch his rare form we all know, he then mailed it in and just simply quit. When asked if missing the cut bothered him, Woods responded "It does bother me, no doubt. But at least I get the weekend to watch and see how it's done, how real players play golf, and hopefully I can piece it together for next week and be ready to go." Woods has never shown that his personal life was bothering him until this week and it was a sight to see. I wish the young man luck in his personal life and hope that he can make it back to the course and bring his mind with him next week when he tees it up at The Players Championship at Sawgrass.
Woods Swinging Cold Clubs at Quail Hollow
After teeing off at 7:40 A.M this morning Tiger Woods finds himself 7 shots back at 4+. Woods started the day off on the back nine and looked to start off hot. But at 17 & 18 he lost his mojo and bogeyed both holes and started the slide he finds himself in at the moment. Woods, playing in his first public tournament since his return, finds the going rough early but as we all know he is a golfer with a mighty set of clubs so you can never count him out.

App State Gets It's Man!!!
State has named it's new mens basketball coach as Jeff Capel. Capel will become the youngest head coach in D-1 and brings with him the Capel basketball knowledge that seems to have blessed the Capel-genes for generations to come. Capel is the 3rd coach in the immediate family as Dad, Jeff Jr. is an assistant with the Charlotte Bobcats and big brother, Jeff III is head man at the upstart Oklahoma program. Capel replaces Buzz Peterson, another UNC alum who decided recently to take the head coaching position at UNCW (Wilmington). Capel, entering only his second year of coaching experience after serving as assistant coach last season at App says "We have a great group of guys in place in our program, and I'm really proud to be able to coach them," Capel said. "I know that we're all in this together and I'm ready to work hard."
Congratulations to the 30 year old head coach!

Roethlisberger To Get 4-6 Game Suspension
The Commish has stated that "NFL players will be held to a higher standard than the law" and thus the ban even though the QB wasn't criminally charged in his last brush with the law. The suspension will allow for a reduced sentence if Roethlisberger complies with certain guidelines that will be included with the suspension. I will keep you updated on that information as it breaks.

Stevens Signs Top Dog Contract!!
Butler University has signed its man!! So much so that they signed him to a 12 year extension, although the University has been hush on how much the deal is worth. Brad Stevens has been the “Wonder-Boy” of college basket for the past three seasons as he has lead the Bulldogs to a 33 win season, a 25 game win streak and the only Division One team to finish undefeated in their conference this season. With that resume under his belt Stevens has been courted by numerous big name schools including the Deacs of Wake Forest, Clemson, and Oregon. Stevens has worked his magic all season with a group of kids that bought in to his program early and often.
Stevens answered the extension by stating “Tracy and I are thrilled and very thankful for the opportunity to continue to play a role for Butler University,” Stevens, referring to his wife, said in a statement. “We are already looking forward to the 2010-11 season.” Stevens was named the Horizon League Coach of the year for the past two years and also has set the national record for 3rd year coaches with 89 wins.
One of the early tasks for Stevens will be to keep Sophomore Gordon Hayward on campus and not allow the talented front man to escape to the riches of the next level, “The League”. Hayward offered the last mid court shot that bounded just back-rimmed to end the closest NCAA Championship game in 20 years. That decision will come later in the month before the April 25th date to declare for the NBA draft.
