Bulls Oust Del Negro

The Chicago Bulls have fired head coach Vinny Del Negro after a long tenuous season.

Chicago Bulls head coach Vinny Del Negro attends a news conference in Chicago

Del Negro, caught up in accusations of fights and disagreements with the GM John Paxson has felt the move coming for some time although he still has a year remaining on his deal and is due to be paid $2 million in this last year. Del Negro did not do a bad job in Chicago,he just caught the ire of the GM and most of the time it's all over at that point. Although endorsed by various Bulls players the front office had enough and handed the coach his pink slip. Stay tuned for more on this breaking news!

Lakers Outlast The Jazz

Behind the playoff tenacity of Kobe Bryant the Lakers win game 1 against Utah 100-95. Bryant pours in 31 points after hitting two crucial free throws down the stretch with 19 seconds to go. After the Jazz decided to foul after running off a boat load of time then Pau Gasol steps up to the line and hits the last two to seal the deal. Defense that has not be present for the Lakers in the past month was finally present as they stifled the Jazz all afternoon.

Busch Wins at Richmond

Crown Royal Presents the Heath Calhoun 400

Jeff Gordon was in the position that any racer thrives to be in. The lead. With just three laps to go Gordon was slowed after the sixth and final caution flag was waved slowing the field and allowing the rest of the drivers to catch him. After the caution was over, Gordon, in an effort to block the charging Kevin Harvick, missed Busch speeding by on his right side . Busch made the pass and never looked back as he wins at the Richmond International Raceway. Gordon finishes 2nd followed by Harvick 3rd, Jeff Burton 4th and Carl Edwards 5th.

Woods Shot Down at Quail hollow

Quail Hollow Championship - Round Two

In his second tournament back after a long layoff due to personal reasons Tiger Woods, playing in the Charlotte Quail Hollow Championship played poorly and promptly missed the cut today. Woods shot a 79 and finished the tournament at 9+ after shooting a 74 the day before in the opening round. Woods playing like the "bizarro-Tiger" missed greens, couldn't putt and missed fairways by miles. The uncharacteristic tenacity never showed up to Charlotte with Woods and once he knew he would not be able to catch his rare form we all know, he then mailed it in and just simply quit. When asked if missing the cut bothered him, Woods responded "It does bother me, no doubt. But at least I get the weekend to watch and see how it's done, how real players play golf, and hopefully I can piece it together for next week and be ready to go." Woods has never shown that his personal life was bothering him until this week and it was a sight to see. I wish the young man luck in his personal life and hope that he can make it back to the course and bring his mind with him next week when he tees it up at The Players Championship at Sawgrass.

Woods Swinging Cold Clubs at Quail Hollow

Quail Hollow Championship - Pro Am

After teeing off at 7:40 A.M this morning Tiger Woods finds himself 7 shots back at 4+. Woods started the day off on the back nine and looked to start off hot. But at 17 & 18 he lost his mojo and bogeyed both holes and started the slide he finds himself in at the moment. Woods, playing in his first public tournament since his return, finds the going rough early but as we all know he is a golfer with a mighty set of clubs so you can never count him out.

Celts & Heat Down To The Wire!!

Paul Pierce saves the day as the Celts win on a jumper by Pierce at the .02 mark of the fourth quarter. Pierce, playing well all evening asked for the ball and held it for what Miami Heat at Boston Celtics NBA Playoffs seemed to be an inordinate amount of time but released the mid rage jumper over the out-stretched hands of Durrell Wright as time expired. The Celtics have a commanding 3-0 lead in their series which this blogger thought would be closer. Maybe the obligatory 4-1 series may be in action for the Celts!

Tebow taken in 1st Round

Florida Gator QB Tim Tebow is drafted in a surprise 1st Round, 25th pick move by the Denver Broncos. Not sure in what capacity Denver will use the kid but he is NOW an NFL draftee. The QB that "walks on water" now has a load to prove and it should be interesting to watch how this develops! It's a feel good story but this blogger is not believing that he went before other established QB's that remain undrafted.
