Del Negro, caught up in accusations of fights and disagreements with the GM John Paxson has felt the move coming for some time although he still has a year remaining on his deal and is due to be paid $2 million in this last year. Del Negro did not do a bad job in Chicago,he just caught the ire of the GM and most of the time it's all over at that point.
