Romo Out 6-8 Weeks

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has received the good/bad news. After being knocked out of last nights loss against the NY Giants, when Romo was legally hit by DL Michael Boley, he knows the damage. CT scans revealed a fracture of the left clavicle and Romo has been advised that there is a 90% chance that he will not require surgery but he will miss 6-8 weeks on the sidelines. Coach Wade Phillips stated " I thought we had a letdown mentally" after Tony was injured.

After the game last night a solemn Romo said to the press "I didn't feel that it was broken, I just thought it was a bad sprain and I could shake it off. I had a hard time breathing, I tried to move the shoulder and couldn't and I was very lightheaded! When I could breathe again, I felt like since it was my left shoulder I didn't need it to throw the ball and a running play had been called I wanted to get back in there. I am...upset..disappointed.....and frustrated all at the same time especially when the docs told of the preliminary diagnosis."

Dallas, now 1-5, will take the field for the next two months behind veteran Jon Kitna. All that thought the season could be saved, including me, now have to finally throw in the towel and admit that the Cowboys are not going to right the ship and come back and win the NFC East.

Cowboys Go Back to College

In one of many moves that are going to be made to right the ship that seems to be sinking in Dallas, the Cowboys have decided to adopt a college rule, according to Charean Williams of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram. Since receiving penalties for two consecutive weeks the Cowboys have decided to adopt the college rule of returning the ball immediately to the official or leaving near the deadball spot after any score in all future games. "We're going by the college rule," Head Coach Wade Phillips said. "That's it. Our celebration needs to be after the game, winning the game." After being one of the culprits of the celebrating, WR Miles Austin met with the press on Monday and expressed remorse for his "leap-frog" penalty in Sundays loss to the Vikings. Austin stated “I’m never going to do anything to jeopardize us ever again. I'm not going to do any type of celebration.”  Austin was under the assumption that he received two penalties in the loss but was informed that the second penalty was actually called on Sam Hurd when he celebrated the Hook 'Em Horns, which the NFL also has an issue with, with WR Roy E. Williams.
So as the Cowboys look to make things move in the winning direction they choose to start with touchdown celebrations and not the other offensive penalties, the out of sync offense, the interceptions that seem to come in crunch time and not the defense that kicks back and mails it in the last 6 minutes of the fourth quarter. The Dallas defense is the issue, not TD celebrations. The defense allows 22 points per game, 5.0 yards average on 1st down and they are ranked last in the league in turnovers, forcing a measly 4 all season long. 
Things don't get any easier for the Cowboys in the next month as they take on the Giants twice, Jacksonville and then Green Bay. Attempting to stop a Manning twice is hard enough and Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers is never an easy team to beat.
