Former San Diego Chargers LB Junior Seau has been taken to a local hospital in Carlsbad, California after what authorities have labeled as a suicide attempt. The attempt happened after Seau was released this morning from a local detention center for an alleged domestic violence arrest. After Seau was released, local police received a call in reference to a driver that had drove his white cadillac SUV off a cliff. That driver has been identified as Junior Seau.

Police reps stated "preliminary investigation shows the vehicle left the roadway and travelled over the cliff, landing on the beach below."

Seau was pulled from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with only cuts and bruises.

Update:
Through word from his attorney Seau, 41, issued a statement that he simply fell asleep behind the wheel and in no way meant to drive off a California cliff. A witness statement from the scene from a person in the vehicle behind Seau stated that he was seen driving about 70 miles per hour and made no attempt to brake or slow down. Attorneys have a way of being spin-doctors better than athletes and real life emotions so we will see how this finally plays out after the investigation as well as the criminal charges Seau was arrested on involving his 25 year old girlfriend.
